Soda ash has a number of diversified uses that touch our lives everyday. Glass manufacturing is the largest application for soda ash whether it is in the production of flat glass, containers, fiberglass insulation, for the housing, commercial building, and automotive industries. Soda ash is also being used to clean air and waste water. 
As environmental concerns grow, demand increases for soda ash used in the removal of sulfur dioxide and hydrochloric acid from stack gas and waste water. Chemical producers use soda ash as an intermediate to manufacture chemical products. Household detergents and paper products are other common examples of products using soda ash.

Glass Industries

The main use of soda ash is for glass industries, flat glass and container glass, etc. In glass industries, soda ash functions as a fluxing agent in lowering the melting point of other glass ingredients, and also soda ash is a relatively inexpensive source of sodium oxide (Na₂O) for soda-lime glass.

Sodium Chemicals

Soda ash provides the sodium source for the manufacture of many sodium salts including sodium phosphates, sodium sulfate, sodium sulfite, sodium acetate, sodium nitrite, sodium silicate, etc.

Soap and Detergent

Soda ash is used for soap manufacturing as neutralizing agent. Also soda ash is the raw material of laundry soap as a builder, which strengthen the washing ability in detergent. Soda ash is the main component in synthetic detergent. Soda ash is used for manufacturing sodium percarbonate, which is one of famous bleaching agent.

Mineral refining

Soda ash is proven that it's very useful to refine the minerals for producing steel products. Soda ash is acted as catalytic agent to remove sulfur and phosphorus in steel smelting process.

Food Industries

As one of food additives, soda ash is used for manufacturing mono sodium L-glutamate and soybean sauce. Soda ash is also neutralizing agent in food processing industries.

Textile and Dye

Soda ash is used for textile as cleaning agent, in which soda ash can be used solely or used as mixture with cleaning material. Soda ash is used on the refining or bleaching process of textile industries.
In dyeing process, soda ash is added to make optimum condition for fiber dyeing. 

Paper Industries

Soda ash solution makes wood-chip soften and control pH level in cooking process.

Environmental and water treatment

Soda ash is also used to absorb sulfur dioxide generated in the flue gas, thereby reducing the amount of SO2 emissions into the environment. In water treatment, soda ash is used to neutralize acidity in waste water treatment.
